Transponder Key Replacement & Programming
Transponder chip keys cut and programmed on-site in Brooklyn. What a transponder key is, how programming works and what it costs.
A transponder key has a small RFID chip hidden in the plastic head. When you turn the key, the antenna ring around the ignition sends a signal; the chip answers with a code the engine computer expects. If the answer is wrong or missing, the car cranks but never starts. That is why a hardware-store copy without programming leaves you stranded.
How we replace one
We cut the key blade by code or from your original, then program the chip with professional equipment through the OBD port. Most cars are done in 30-45 minutes at the shop, and we can also come to your car anywhere in Brooklyn.
What it costs
Most transponder keys start at $95 including cutting and programming. Final price depends on the chip type and whether you have a working key to copy from. See the transponder key cost guide for a full breakdown, or compare with smart keys.
