Ignition Cylinder Repair & Replacement
Key won’t turn in the ignition? Worn cylinder repair, rekey and replacement for most makes in Brooklyn.
When a key refuses to turn, the problem is often not the key — it is a worn ignition cylinder. Years of inserting a slightly worn key wear the wafers inside the lock until they no longer line up. Owners describe it as the key turning "sometimes, if you wiggle it."
Repair or replace
Many cylinders can be rebuilt and rekeyed to a fresh key for less than the price of a full replacement. When the housing is cracked or the wafers are gone, we replace the cylinder and cut a matching key set. Both jobs are done at the shop the same day for most models.
Catch it early
A sticky ignition also chews up every key you keep using in it. If your key sticks or resists, stop forcing it — bring the car in along with a spare, before you need the lockout truck.
